Hedy
Hedy was born in Hungary during the Second World War, and in 1956 left her homeland with her husband Joe after the outbreak of the revolution. They were transported to Dunedin in New Zealand where they were fondly embraced by the Scottish Community, living and working in and around Dunedin and Mosgiel. Hedy learnt English listening to the heavy brogue Scottish accent and still to this day has a soft spot in her heart for how the local residents helped her and Joe.
Hedy often reminisces how she was given a large blue willow dinner set that at the time she did not appreciate, and did not even like. Today she looks for this wonderful English China and wishes she still has some pieces.
Helen fell into this amazing Antique and Collectable business after her father Joe passed away and she reached out to help her mother Hedy move forward in life. A simple comment asking "why not try selling at an Antique Fair" has opened up an area where Helen never thought she would get so much pleasure and enjoyment out of.
Having learnt so much and with so much still to learn Helen looks forward to every day being filled with new treasures and purchases.
She still runs two successful business, but Helen ensures that she makes the time to indulge in this wonderful industry and sourcing some amazing items for customers from far and wide.
